Terms and Conditions – Jan Driving Academy

Introduction

Welcome to Jan Driving Academy.

We are committed to providing high-quality driving tuition through our network of DVSA Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs). By booking lessons or intensive courses with us, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Our Role

Jan Driving Academy acts as an agency, connecting learners with independent DVSA Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs).

When booking with Jan Driving Academy, driving tuition is provided directly by the

assigned instructor, who operates independently.

2. Definitions

"You" – The learner/pupil booking lessons or courses.

"We" / "Us" – Jan Driving Academy and/or the assigned DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

"Instructor" – The DVSA Approved Driving Instructor providing tuition.

"Course" – Any intensive driving course or lesson package arranged through Jan Driving Academy.

3. Intensive Course Bookings & Payments

A 20% deposit is required to secure any intensive driving course booking.

Learners must already have a practical driving test booked before an intensive course can be arranged.

Jan Driving Academy does not arrange or book practical driving tests on behalf of learners.

All intensive courses begin with a compulsory 2-hour Initial Assessment Lesson.

This assessment allows the instructor to:

  • Assess current driving ability

  • Confirm course suitability

  • Identify areas requiring improvement

  • Plan the remaining course lessons appropriately

The remaining course balance becomes payable following successful completion of the Initial Assessment Lesson.

Failure to pay the remaining balance may result in lessons or courses being suspended or cancelled.

4. Driving Lessons

48-Hour Cancellation Policy

A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson.

Failure to provide sufficient notice may result in the full lesson fee being charged.

Provisional Licence

You must hold a valid UK provisional driving licence and present it to your instructor before your first lesson.

Lesson Scheduling

Lessons are arranged directly between the learner and instructor.

Punctuality

Late arrivals may result in a shortened lesson. In some cases, lessons may need to be cancelled without refund depending on instructor availability.

Missed Lessons

Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without notice will result in the lesson being charged in full.

Health & Fitness to Drive

You must inform your instructor of any medical condition, injury, medication, or circumstance that may affect your ability to drive safely.

Unused Lesson Hours

Unused lesson hours are non-refundable and non-transferable unless agreed otherwise at instructor discretion.

5. Practical Driving Tests

Learners are responsible for arranging and managing their own practical driving test bookings.

The instructor reserves the right to refuse use of the tuition vehicle for a practical driving test if the learner is not considered to be at a safe or suitable test standard.

If a learner misses their practical test or the DVSA reschedules or cancels a test appointment, additional lesson or vehicle hire charges may apply where applicable.

Learners are responsible for informing their instructor of any practical test date changes.

6. Intensive Course Cancellations & Refunds

Intensive driving courses may be cancelled up to 14 days before the agreed course start date for a full refund of any monies paid.

Cancellations made within 14 days of the course start date may not be eligible for a refund.

This is because instructors reserve significant teaching availability specifically for intensive course bookings, often blocking multiple days or weeks in advance.

Any refunds after this period remain entirely at instructor discretion.

7. Liability

Jan Driving Academy is not liable for delays, cancellations, test changes, or losses outside of our reasonable control.

We do not guarantee practical test dates, test outcomes, or driving test passes.

Any concerns regarding tuition should first be discussed directly with the assigned instructor wherever possible.

8. Data Protection & Privacy

Personal data is handled in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and applicable UK GDPR regulations.

Your information may be used for:

  • Managing bookings and lessons

  • Instructor allocation

  • Course administration

  • Communication regarding lessons and services

Your information will not be shared unlawfully with third parties.

9. Behaviour Policy

Jan Driving Academy operates a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive, aggressive, threatening, discriminatory, or inappropriate behaviour towards staff or instructors.

Any such behaviour may result in immediate cancellation of lessons or courses without refund.

10. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
