Become a Driving Instructor with Jan Driving Academy

At Jan Driving Academy, we are dedicated to helping aspiring driving instructors kick-start their careers with full support and guidance throughout the entire process. Whether you're self-funded or prefer academy-supported training, we have options to suit your needs.

Training Options

We offer two flexible training options for prospective driving instructors:

Option 1: Self-Funded Training with 6-Month Franchise

  • Training Costs: You will cover the cost of your training, including all three parts of the instructor qualification process (Part 1 - Theory Test, Part 2 - Driving Ability Test, Part 3 - Instructional Ability Test). Exam booking fees are also your responsibility.

  • Franchise Agreement: Upon successful qualification, you’ll enter a 6-month franchise agreement with Jan Driving Academy.

  • Support: Throughout your training, you'll receive ongoing support and expert guidance from our experienced team.

Option 2: Academy-Funded Training with 18-Month Contract

  • Training Costs: Jan Driving Academy covers the cost of all your training materials and tuition. However, you will still be responsible for exam booking fees.

  • Contract: In return for free training, you'll be contracted to work exclusively with Jan Driving Academy for an 18-month period.

  • Support: Throughout your training and employment, you'll have access to comprehensive support and resources.

Requirements to Become a Driving Instructor

To qualify as a driving instructor, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Age & Experience: Be at least 21 years old and hold a full UK or EU driving license for a minimum of three years.

  • Driving Record: Your license should have no more than six penalty points.

  • Criminal Record Check: You must pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
